According to a report in the Independent, Hutagalung was working outside his house, when he heard an object falling down from the sky. The object was a 2.1 kilogram meteorite, that came hurtling down his tin verandah and landed on his living room.

“The sound was so loud that parts of the house were shaking too. And after I searched, I saw that the tin roof of the house had broken. When I lifted it, the stone was still warm,” Hutagalung told news outlet Kompas.

He further added ”I strongly suspect that this rock is indeed an object from the sky that many people call a meteorite. Because it is impossible someone deliberately threw it or dropped it from above ”.

The meteorite has been identified as carbonaceous chondrite. The carbonaceous chondrite is an extremely rare variety of meteorite and is estimated to be 4.5 billion years old. It is reported to have the worth of around 645 pounds per gram.

According to The Sun, Hutagalung sold the meteorite to a specialist collector named Jared Collins, who re-sold it to a collector Jay Piatek. With the money procured after selling the meteorite, Hutagalung wants to retire and build a new church in his village.
