Farmers from Delhi and Haryana were heading towards the nation’s capital against the Centre’s Farm laws despite the obstacles extended by the force.
But now on 2nd day of the march, permission has been passed for their planned protest where the Delhi Police Commissioner appealed the farmers to express peacefully at Nirankari Samagam Ground in Burari Area at Delhi. According to the reports, the decision was made after the clash that took place between the force and the farmers this morning.
Farmers from different parts of India have raised voice against the three new bills. According to the bill passed by India’s parliament, will ease their trade directly with the private buyers.
Under the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act passed in 1964, it was compulsory for farmers to sell their product at government-regulated market, or mandis, where middlemen helped growers sell harvest to either the state-run company or the private players.
The government says the monopoly of APMC mandis will end but will not be shut, and that the Minimum Support Price (MSP)-the price at which the government buys farm produce-will not be discarded.
