December 21, 2020: On Sunday, December 20, According to The Reader’s Time’s sources, government sent out an invitation to the protesting farmers to join in on the ongoing meetings regarding the Farm Bill and discuss about fixing the date of their meeting at the Vigyan Bhavan to their convenience.
Earlier today, Union Minister V.K. Singh called the ongoing protest “more political” than about personal welfare and community interests. He spoke of how the actual farmers are happy with the reforms and changes taking place from the last few months.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said on Saturday that the government is open to any kind of discussion if the protesters “come forward without seeking a yes or no response”.
Meanwhile, the farmers have decided to go on a relay hunger strike on Monday and even decided on blocking all toll collection on the national highways in Haryana from December 25 to 27.
In another news, the farmers at Ghazipur (at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border) are observing “Shahidi Divas” today. “We’ll observe Shahidi Divas today and pay tribute to those who lost their lives during this movement.”- said Mange Ram Tyagi, chief secretary, Delhi-NCR, Bhartiya Kisan Union
