Meghalaya is ready to welcome tourists after 9 months

December 22, 2020: Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong, state minister H. Dohling along with other distinguished personalities inaugurated the Umling Facilitation Centre, situated in RiBhoi district of Meghalaya, where tourists from all over have started to check in already.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma is in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 but has addressed the issue through Twitter and expressed his happiness. 

After nine months of restriction, Meghalaya opened it’s doors for tourists on Monday, December 21. The state has released a SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) to be strictly followed by the visiting tourists.

List of precautionary measures to be followed are:

  • All tourists will need to register on the Meghalaya Tourism App and generate the E-invite for the proposed initiary. The app is available for both Android playstore and IOS. 
  • The E-invite can also be generated through the website of Meghalaya tourism; https://www.meghalayatourism.in
  • Visitors will need to upload, on the app, any valid photo ID of themself and that of others if travelling in a group. 
  • Group travellers can visit under one E-invite.
  • The E-invite with the QR code should be produced at the entry points of the state along with valid photo IDs.
  • An original copy of COVID negative report should be produced at the State entry points.
  • It is mandatory for all visitors to come with a COVID Negative RT-PCR/TruNat/CBNAAT report, to be considered valid only if issued within 72 hours of entering the state. 
  • The tourist will have to book atleast a two nights stay at hotel/homestay/guesthouse and provide the information of the same at the tourism app to generate the E-invite.
  • If they are staying at any relative or friend’s place in Meghalaya, then the full address and contact details must be provided at the tourism app.
