December 22, 2020:  Prasenjit Saha, a daily wage worker from Agartala, Tripura died at the hands of an angry mob who brutally attacked him under the suspicion that he was a theif.

Prasenjit’s family has lodged a case with police on Monday. His wife told the media that her husband, Prasenjit, a welding worker, never came home after leaving for work on Friday morning. They started searching for him on Saturday but couldn’t find any information. On monday the family came to know about a mob lynch on GB Bazaar that killed two people. They rushed to the police station where they were informed about two unidentified bodies recovered from the bazaar and were shifted to the GBP hospital for post-mortem. The family members then identified one of them as Prasenjit at the morgue.

It was not the first case of mob lynching in Tripura. Several other incidents have happened in the state. Even last month, a fire department employee named Biswajit Debbarma died in a mob lynch at Panisagar. In 2018, 4 individuals were mob lynched in the state.
