December 23, 2020: After a Mob Lynch in Agartala’s GB Bazaar killed an innocent Prasenjit Saha on December 19, 2 individuals were arrested in this regard on Tuesday, December 22, morning by a team from NCC police station.
The two accused are identified as Haripada Biswas and Madhusudhan Saha, both residents of GB Bazaar area. Both the accused were presented before the judge on Tuesday and according to the statement of government lawyer Dipa Bhattacharjee, they were both remanded to 5 days in police custody. Dipa Bhattacharjee said the police sought the remand of the two individuals to find out about the others involved in the mob lynch.
The victim, Prasenjit Saha was a resident of Baldakhal area of Agartala and worked as a welding worker on a daily basis. According to his wife’s statement, he never returned home after leaving for work on Friday morning. After being missing for 2 days, the family lodged a case at the police station on Monday, December 21, but were soon informed of his death and eventually found his body at the GB hospital morgue.
Opposition party member and former Chief Minister of Agartala, Manik Sarkar addressed this issue and was quick to question the BJP government’s administration, demanding answer from the current CM and asking to take responsibility for the matter.
