December 26, 2020:. Adhering to the “new normal” and the State rules, many churches from all over Nagaland celebrated Christmas online. Practitioners of Christianity attended the midnight mass through various online platforms for the first time in the state.
Many churches and abbeys broadcasted their programs live and others allowed very limited people to attend the services in person. Some churches in Kohima cancelled their special midnight celebrations and the feast as the state Health and family welfare department has discouraged such practices during this time of COVID-19 pandemic. Instead gifts and food were distributed as takeaways to the visitors.
But COVID couldn’t take away people’s enthusiasm and festive mood as the whole state was decorated beautifully. Being predominantly a Christian state, every house church, buildings and street was glowing with fairy lights, stars and trees.
