On 6th January 2021, the Assam State Team landed at Kolkata for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 cricket. Currently, the players, Rishav Das, Ryan Parag, and Co. are being quarantined at the hotel in Kolkata. The quarantine period will end on January 7. They will resume their practice after this five-day confinement period. Their first match is against Hyderabad and will take place at Eden Garden on January 10.
The team consists of three players from Silchar; Pritam Das, Rahul Singh, and Abhishek Thakuri. The right-arm pacer, Pritam has been playing in the limited-overs format of domestic cricket routinely. Regardless of his excellent performance in Vijay Hazare Trophy, he did not receive an IPL ticket. He is now a senior member of the Assam team but has proved that he is in good shape. Another member of the state team, Rahul Singh, who was Rajasthan Royals’ net bowler in IPL last year, is also prepared. Abhishek Thakuri, the star player from Silchar is confident and wants to perform well. The Mushtaq Ali Trophy is the focal point of every IPL franchise.
The Mushtaq Ali Trophy is important this year for our domestic cricketers, as this is the first domestic tournament in India during the pandemic. They will be competing at the top level after a prolonged gap, and the Silchar boys are no exception to it.
