The Election Commission of India (ECI), on Friday, announced the schedule for forthcoming Assam Assembly Election 2021, in an important press conference. Election dates for legislative assemblies of West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala were declared today during the press meet.
They will hold 126-seat polls in Assam, and Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has said they will hold three-stage polls.
“In the first phase for 47 assembly segment, the polls will be on March 27, followed by the 2nd phase for 39 constituencies on April 1 and the third phase for 40 seats on April 6,” Arora said.
The counting of the votes will be done on 2nd May, 2021.
On 31 May 2021, the term of the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly will expire. Each polling station will have a maximum of 1000 voters this time, due to COVID-19 protocols. All election-related workers will be vaccinated. The election will be held in compliance with the protocols of COVID-19.
