On Sunday the Nepal government warned its citizens to avoid any action that would hurt Nepal ‘s relations with a friendly Nation.
“The Government of Nepal wishes to have a friendly relationship with all friendly nations and is determined not to let any activities that may harm the national interest. We request everyone not to carry out any action that may hurt the dignity and respect of the friendly nations,” the statement said.
The statement came after some students and youth organisations belonging to both the ruling alliance and the Opposition burnt effigies of Prime Minister Modi while protesting the death of a Nepali youth, Jaya Singh Dhami, when he was crossing the Mahakali river near the border with India in July.
Jaya Singh Dhami, 33 years old boy from rural municipality in Darchula district of Nepal , is supposed to have fell (still missing) into the Mahanadi river after he saw an approaching patrol of the India-Nepal border guarding force Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), while he was crossing Indo- Nepal border through a carriage of the tuin .
According to the official of the Indian side the man was crossing the border of Nepal and was coming to the Indian side “illegally” using the tuin and was coming from Darchula in Nepal to Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand’s.
In the report of the investigation Nepalese committee it was concluded that the death of Dhami occurred in the presence of Indian security personnel.
This incident has lighted the protest in Nepal against India. The protesters argue that the life of Jay Singh Dhami could be saved but the SSB of India did nothing and let Dhami die.
