Assam News | Assam Government  declares Pragyan Bharti Scheme for Students with Economic Hardships

On Monday, September 6, the Government of Assam declared that the fee waiver Pragyan Bharti Scheme Assam will continue this year that is from the year 2021-22. Under Pragyan Bharti Scheme Assam, students with parental income less than Two Lakh can get free admission in HS, Degree and MA, MSC, and M.com courses respectively.

The Assam Higher Education Department said that the students who have taken the fee waiver earlier can apply for their second and third-year admission. The scheme can be used by final year students of MA, MSC, and M.com in Assam. Students whose parents are working under the Central and the State government cannot take benefits under this Scheme

Students will have to submit an undertaking stating that their parents are not working for the state or central government. Students with less than 75% attendance are not eligible for this scheme. 

The eligibility for this scheme depends on the student’s parental income. The parental income should be less than 2 lakh per annum.

The private colleges, universities, and central universities which are located in Assam won’t be under the purview of this order.

Pragyan Bharti Scheme list in which the government institutions provide benefits:

Guwahati University (Guwahati), Dibrugarh University (Dibrugarh), Bodoland University(Kakrajhar),  Cotton College (Guwahati), Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit And Ancient Studies University (Nalbari), Women’s University (Jorhat), Bhattadev University, (Bajali) Rabindranath Tagore University, (Hojai), Madhabdev University, (Lakhimpur), Majuli University Of Culture, (Majuli), and Sati Sadhini Raijyik Viswavidyalaya.

Students have to submit their parent’s income certificate from the local revenue circle officer to avail of benefits. However, the main objective of this scheme is to provide appropriate resources to all students studying in the state of Assam. This scheme will encourage girls to go to college. Students will be encouraged by the number of benefits provided. The scooter will be useful for the students to travel on.
