Major Aaina Rana a brave daughter of India, has become the first woman Army officer to head a Road Construction company under the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). She is a resident of Pathankot in Punjab.
She has served the Indian Army for 9 years and after that joined BRO. Major Rana has been given the responsibility of road connectivity to the Indo-China border in the challenging Himalayan region.
BRO was established on 7 May 1960 during the tenure of the first Prime Minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru. BRO is an Indian road construction executive force, which provides assistance. BRO is a part of Indian Army Forces. It develops and maintains road network in India’s border areas and other neighboring countries.
So, to head such an organization is a matter of pride. The decision of assigning such an important role to a woman is a revolutionary step towards women empowerment.
Also, this year in April, a road construction company was commanded by Vaishali S Hivase. She was the first woman commanding officer of the BRO to be posted to the post. Vaishali is a resident of Wardha, Maharashtra. Evidently, women are heading forward, and are capable of taking responsibilities equally.
