The Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, said on Tuesday that, the state education department has pumped up really high, to arrange the offline classes for Class X. He mentioned that there are possibilities of the new SOP Assam Education Department 2021 will get introduced very soon. In the SOP it might be mentioned that the offline classes of 10th standard might reopen from 20th September 2021. However, the classes will restart in a phased manner. He said, “ Some good news will come after Wednesday or Thursday’s cabinet meeting.”
The daily count is moving around 500 in Assam for a long time. It is in a steady positivity rate between 0.50 and 1%. As per the health experts, Guwahati as Kamrup Metro district is the only matter of concern. The district contributes 20% of the state’s daily COVID count.
A senior health department official said, “There is no major threat of Covid infection in other districts. But if Class X and other classes reopen, Covid protocols will have to be very strictly followed in Kamrup Metro.” On Tuesday a total 493 COVID positive cases were reported in Assam. 138 cases were recorded in Kamrup. The state health department confirmed on Tuesday regarding 9 COVID deaths.
After such a long break, now Teachers and students are desperate to come back to their classrooms, but due to the lack of vaccination for the children who are below 18 years, it became a big matter to be concerned about for the health and education departments. Opening of schools in Assam 2021, requires more discussion. There might be introduction of school reopening in Assam guidelines.
General Secretary of Asom Madhyamik Shiksha Aru Karmachari Sanstha, Gobinda Kalita said, “When life has returned to normalcy everywhere, the government should go ahead with its plans to stay offline classes phase wise. But we are also not in favour of opening all classes at one go. Nevertheless, physical classes for Class X should not be delayed in view of board examinations.”
