Day 1 of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Cachar visit in September 2021

Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Cachar visit started by offering flowers to the idol of Atal Bihari Vajpayee at zero point of the Mahasadak Highway.

Later he headed to the RSS office in the Ambicapatty area of Silchar to meet the officials and had a private meeting with them. But to the surprise, the Ambicapatty area which usually suffers a lot due to waterlogging was found in a merrier state. Yesterday the situation remained almost clean as special attention was provided in cleaning all the garbage through the area.

After the visit at Ambicapatty, CM Sarma left for the inspection of the Mini Secretariat for the Barak Valley near the ONGC compound in Srikona. There he announced a sum of ₹ 116 cr. for the Mini Secretariat and promised that the construction work shall start very soon.

Next, he headed for the By-Pass to take a look on its readiness. He found that some little over 3kms of the roads is still undone. Himanta Biswa Sarma on bypass connecting NH 306 Silchar-Aizawl & Silchar-Karimganj, ordered the stakeholders to complete the work. He gave a deadline till Durga Puja for the bypass to become motorable. He even expressed that he would like to visit Silchar on Mahasaptami and check if the work is done.

Sharma then went to lay the foundation stone at the Silchar Red Cross Society. He said, “50 lacks INR worth of budgetary provision is made available for now and another 50 lakhs INR remain in the pipeline.” Sarma also remembered Mother Teresa and said,” The main goal of the hospital which is to be charitable in nature should be remembered for the benefit of those who need it. The 3rd wave of COVID infections puts the kids at risk which raises serious concern and the development of health infrastructure remains at the core of all Govt. planning.”

Later CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the construction of a 500-bed hospital at SMCH & inaugurated 80 ICU beds (including 40 for pediatric), taking total ICU beds to 180.

The CM then attended meetings with different linguistic groups of people from Cachar. He then meets with some NGOs at the DC Office Silchar. He was accompanied by the Assam State BJP secretary, Pallab Lochan Das, and soms others.
