US covid vaccine donation | USA to donate 500 million COVID vaccine doses to lower-middle-income countries

The United States of America on Wednesday promised that it will buy 500 million more COVID-19 vaccines with the purpose of donating to other countries as it comes under increasing pressure to share its supply with the rest of the world.

The additional vaccines will increase US covid vaccine donation to the rest of the world to more than 1.1 billion doses. The vaccines from Pfizer and BioNTech will be manufactured in the United States and will be shipped to low and lower-middle-income countries starting in January.

The White House is hosting a four-hour virtual summit aiming to boost covid vaccine production rate global vaccination rates and the President Joe Biden Administration wants to show it is leading by example. President Biden kicked off the summit by saying “To beat the pandemic here we need to beat it everywhere.” The summit includes leaders from Canada, Indonesia, South Africa, and Britain, as well as the World Health Organization (WHO) head Tedros Ghebreyesus.
