Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta announced that the Assam Govt to provide free medical treatment of Rs 5. lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The Health Minister has urged everyone to make their Ayushman Bharat card to avail the beneficiaries.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Health Minister Keshab Mahanta in a press meet where he addressed the media on the Ayushman Bharati scheme.
What is eligibility for Ayushman Bharat yojana?
The Ayushman Bharati Scheme aims to benefit over ten crore families which count to over 50 crore individuals. There are different criteria for the urban and rural populations. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is available to the following types of people in the rural areas-
- Families that do not have an earning adult member aged between 16 to 59 years;
- Landless households with manual labor as their basic source of income.
- Family with a disabled member and no able-bodied adult members;
- Household belonging in the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes; and
- Families living in a single-room house with temporary walls and roofs.
The health minister Mahanta also tweeted, ” Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY, the world’s largest health assurance scheme, completes 3 years of services, providing cashless treatment to crores of poor and vulnerable families of the country”.
He further stated, “Assam is grateful to Adarniya PM Narendra Modi Ji for this robust healthcare scheme under which a large section of the people of Assam has benefitted. We are committed to extending the service of PMJAY to all eligible citizens of Assam.”
To make the scheme more reachable for the beneficiaries and to increase the usage of the ‘Ayushman Health cards’, an initiative christened as ‘Aap Ke Dwar Ayushman’ will commerce from October. Under this initiative, verification and validation of the ‘Ayushman’ cards for the eligible beneficiaries at ‘near-to-home’ locations is going to be facilitated by authorized agencies free of cost.”
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana Scheme covers the COVID-19 treatment and hospitalization. COVID-19 patients can avail free treatment at empaneled hospitals through the PMJAY scheme. Make sure that you are a beneficiary of the government-funded Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
The following categories are not eligible to receive the benefits under Aushman Bharat scheme:
The household member of the government employee;
Households with non-agricultural enterprises registered with the government; and
Any member of the family with more than Rs 10,000 per month.

Enter your mobile number;
Enter the captcha code;
Click on the ‘generate otp’ tab
Select the state you are residing in and search by name, mobile number or ration card.
The search will help verify if you are eligible for PMJAY.
