APDCL recruitment exam scam: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday recommended that the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) board cancel the recruitment examination of 2019 and conduct a fresh process for APDCL recruitment 2021. The recommendation came after the Special Vigilance team arrested 10 people accused, who can be connected with the alleged APDCL recruitment scam.
One of the accused is Dipankar Dihingia an officer on special duty to APDCL and two officials of Guwahati University. CM further notified that the investigation is going on and the government will find out every person involved in this scam.
278 candidates were in contact with the accused who were arrested. The vigilance team has seized the question paper and answer key from the residence of an accused. The two Gauhati University officials who were arrested, were lower divisional assistant and private security personnel respectively. The others are the employees of NEICOM, an IT organization that offers business process outsourcing services and was involved in the APDCL recruitment process.
The alleged APDCL recruitment exam scam is related to the recruitment of APDCL for the post of Office-cum-field assistant, sahayak, and light vehicle driver of APDCL. It has been alleged that 2 lakh to 3 lakh rupees were demanded from candidates to clear the written exam.
CM said that within six months the government will start the hiring process for the recruitment of 1 lakh jobs.
