Student of Daffodils School Silchar Moulina Bhattacharjee wins first prize in a state-level online contest

Student of Daffodils School Silchar, Moulina Bhattacharjee wins first prize in a state-level online contest of Department of Tourism. The competition was organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Assam to observe the occasion of World Tourism Day 2021. Indeed it is a matter of pride and great joy for the people of Barak Valley and also for the people of Assam that a student of Daffodils School Silchar wins first prize in painting.

In the competition, Moulina Bhattacharjee painted an attractive oil pastel sketch of the historic Rang Ghar in the Sivasagar district. Moulina secured the first position on the theme, Heritage Monuments of Assam in the group B category which covers, students from Class VIII to Class IX.

Moulina expressed her reaction by saying “I am elated to receive the prize. The unique architecture of Rang Ghar had attracted me to the sketch. The Honourable Tourism Minister congratulated me and encouraged me for the work which is all the more inspiring.” Moulina didn’t forget to thank her teachers and her school for their guidance and support while competing in this competition. Moulina also expressed her wish to continue her carrier in Visual arts.

Maulina received her prize in a ceremony organized for the celebration of World Tourism Day 2021 at the Srimanta Sankardeva International auditorium (Kalakshetra) on Monday. Maulina’s prize consisted of a cash award, memento, gift hamper, and certificate from the State.

She received her first prize from the State Minister of Tourism, Sports and Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs, and Power – Mr. Bimal Borah. Promod Boro (Chief Executive Member Bodoland Territorial Council), PK Borthakur (Additional Chief Secretary Tourism, Sports and Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs), Executive members from Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Dr. Amitabh Dey (Principal Institute of Hotel Management, Guwahati) were among those present at the event.

Bimal Borah while addressing the gathering, welcomed the people to visit Assam. He said that the Assam is blessed with the beauty of nature and the state has a very rich linguistic and cultural heritage. he further hoped that despite the fact that there were some hindrances to attract tourism in Assam, the state will soon become a tourist’s paradise.
