For the development of the civil hospital Silchar, a movement has been called in Citizen meeting

Last year, Silchar Civil Hospital completed its hundred years. In the same year, the then Health Minister and present Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma promised to give 300 beds to the hospital. But this promise isn’t fulfilled even after a year. This statement has been given by a science-based organization, March for Science. In the meeting organized by this organization, by gathering public opinion, a mass protest will be done so that the government remembers its promise. And for this, various steps will be taken.

The meeting claimed the promised 300 beds and the infrastructural development of the hospital. This day, the meeting was held at Sangit Vidyalaya at 11 am. In the meeting, Krishanu Bhattacharya put up the various issues faced by the hospital. The motive of the meeting was put forward by Madhumita Deb. Former principal Paritoshchandra Dutta stated that as the numbers of Private hospitals are increasing, common people cannot bear the expenses of such hospitals. But Civil Hospital due to government negligence fails to provide treatment.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Forum President, prominent journalist Haran Dey stated that the condition of Silchar Civil Hospital is worse than Hailakandi and Karimganj Civil Hospital to change this situation, he proposed to start a movement along with people of all the classes. Humanity Foundation President Sihab Uddin Ahmed proposed that the issues of the hospital should be informed to the Chief minister.

All the proposals proposed in the meeting have been taken into account and the president of Peoples science society Hillol Bhattacharya has taken the matter to concern. Under the management of the president of the meeting,  by the consent of all the people present have accepted the proposals. A platform has been established under the name of “Silchar Civil hospital Modernisation Committee”. The chief guest of the committee is Kamal Chakraborty. Co-secretary Surajit  Shome and Hanif Barbhuiya. The vote of thanks had been given by Gunakar Das. The news had been given by Rahul Roy on behalf of the committee.
