Silchar News | Silchar MLA Rajdeep Roy’s importance in greening to lead a healthy life

In order to lead a healthy life, MLA Dr. Rajdeep Roy gave emphasis on a greener environment not only in Barak Valley but also in the entire North-East. On Tuesday in a meeting held after  the inauguration of the Secretariat of North-east Green Summit in the campus of Don Bosco technical school , Rajdeep Roy threw light on this topic. He also said that hosting such a summit would open new doors for environmental awareness in the Barak Valley, including the north east.

Rajdeep Roy said the conference will be held in Silchar from November 17 to 18 this year. It is an initiative of the NE Foundation of Vibgio and the sixth edition will be held in collaboration with NIT Silchar and Donbosco School, Silchar. He said, “It is a matter of pride for us that despite having major institutions like IIT Guwahati and Shillong, we have been able to bring the summit to Silchar. Now let us work together as a team to make it a great success in Silchar i.e. Barak Valley.

Silchar MLA Deepayan Chakraborty in his speech assured his full support to the summit where the presence of eminent persons is being sought. He said he was ready for any assistance to make the summit a success.

NIT director Shivaji Banerjee expressed his satisfaction that the Green Summit would be held at the NIT campus. He assured full cooperation to make the event a success. “Participants from the rest of the country, including the Northeast, will attend the summit, which is significant event for the Barak Valley,” he said.

He added that NIT has planned a cyclathon-paddle for Green. This will increase awareness in the North East before the vent on transparency and greening. A detailed plan will be announced soon. Among others present at the meeting were Brother Reggie Joseph, Director of Don Bosco Technical School, Father Michael Makri, Director of Shillong DBS Youth Centre, Surjit Tigga, Principal of Don bosco School and Father Thomas, Rector of Silbhar Donbosco School.

It may be mentioned that the forest ministers of the North eastern states were also expected to join the summit.
