Good news for the people of Barak Valley. As bodybuilder Pratik Deb from Karimganj district has shined bright and secured a Bronze medal at the 12th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2021, which was held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The event started on the 1st of October, where Pratik participated in the 175 cm men’s sports physique category, and on 5th of October he won the Bronze medal. The championship was organized by World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF).
The young man shared his story to the media with lots of excitement and satisfaction over his success at the world stage. He dedicated his victory to his parents and personal trainer. He also mentioned that he will be focused and is now looking for other significant events.
Pratik said that, since his childhood he has been inclined towards sports and was a sports enthusiast. He participated in several national level school championships. His schooling was done from Karimganj Kendriya Vidyalaya. He did his graduation in Physical Education from Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education in Guwahati with a major in Weightlifting. Pratik has been trained by one of the most renowned bodybuilder, Moirangthem Robi Meitei. He is a recognizable sports personality in the region.
While talking about the event, Pratik said that, for participating in the event at Tashkent Uzbekistan, Pratik had to go through the selection process that was organized by the Indian Bodybuilding Federation (IBBF), which was the governing body for bodybuilding in India. There were nine participants in the 175cm men’s category. Amongst which only 5 could pass the prejudge session of the championship. After which the final event was conducted where he secured the third place.
The Valley congratulates the young man, and hopes to see more such young talents flourishing in future.
