Silchar News Today | Brave new vision: Silchar girl pledges to donate her eyes

At her 24th birthday, the Assam University, Commerce Department (3rd semester) student, Ms. Swarnali Das has taken a brave step. Belying her age and showcasing a great degree of social maturity, Swarnali has decided to donate her eyes. She believes that another person should get the chance to view the world through her eyes.

She received the acknowledgment letter in the presence of her father Nilmadhab Das and mother Shilpi Das along with Mithun Roy and Sunita Koiri. Here, Mithun Roy is the general secretary of SAKSHAM in Assam as well as the Northeast India coordinator for the same.

Also, Sunita Koiri is the treasurer for the Cachar district committee of SAKSHAM. The acknowledgment letter was handed over by the vice president of the Smile Foundation, Mr. Surjit Shome. Surjit Shome is also known as the “mobile blood bank” popularly.
