The Silcoorie Barambaba Temple in Cachar is one of the traditional pilgrimage sites in the North East. Therefore, on the day of Maha Saptami, during the Chief Minister’s visit to Silchar, he visited various Durga mandapas and also worshipped at the Barambaba temple. On the same day, the Chief Minister assured that the work would start soon if the management committee of Barambaba Temple demanded the overall development of the temple and development of this pilgrimage site as a tourist destination.
On this day, a meeting was organized by the temple management committee at the temple premises to give a reception to the Chief Minister. At the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the work will start soon as per the demand of the temple management committee. He said Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy and Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai will soon meet the temple management committee to decide on the development of the temple. Earlier, in the day, Chief Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma paid obeisance to Sri Barambaba by chanting mantras with the priests led by Acharya Pandit Sabita Sharma of the Barambaba Temple.
The MP Rajdeep Roy, MLA Kaushik Rai, MLA Deepayan Chakraborty, State BJP Konad Purkayastha, District BJP President Bimalendu Roy, West Sonai district council member Manab Singh, Cachar district Governor Keerthi Jalli, and others were present with the Chief Minister.
