Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai, who was present as the guest of honor at the 70th foundation day function of Assam Manipur Sahitya Parishad at Silchar Gandhi Bhaban on Sunday, said that the state government would continue its efforts to declare a holiday on Bir Tikendrajit’s Martyr’s day next year. In his speech, Lakhipur MLA assured active cooperation in the development of Manipuri society.
The chief guest of the function, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakaraborty, said that he would have his consent and cooperation in setting up a full-fledged statue of Bir Tikendrajit in Silchar. He also assured to continue efforts to solve various problems of Manipuri society. MLA Dipayan Chakraborty started the program by lighting the lamp. The discussion was held under the patronage of Sahitya Parisad co-president Basanta Singh.
Distinguished guests MP Representative Pulak Das, special guest Bela Das, Professor, Assam University and Manipuri Development Council President Rinarani Singh were present in the meeting. Former general secretary I. Binod Singh and P. Kamini Singh were present as guest speakers.
Professor Dhiren Singh, General Secretary of the Council also spoke at the function. President of Ramnagar Branch of the Council Brajlal Singh was also present on the occasion. Satyendra Singh, publicity secretary of the council, said this in a press release.
