Heroin Seized in Barak Valley: In the Lakhipur sub-division, the police are achieving one success after another in the campaign against drug trafficking and use. Police were able to seize large quantities of drugs again on Friday. A woman by the name of Nursana Begum has been arrested.
Nursana Begum was caught with heroin tablets in the Lakhipur police station area. On Friday, Lakhipur SDPO Kul Pradeep Bhattacharya, Jirighat Police Station OC Rana Nath along with Lakhipur Police station arrested the woman along with heroin tablets on the basis of secret information. Nursana was a resident of the fourth part of Singirband under Lakhipur Police station.
Police arrested Nursana on Friday evening while she was standing on the side of the road with heroin tablets in the Chaparmayna area. 128 grams of heroin and 20,000 yaba tablets were seized from Nursana. These drugs were hidden in 10 soap cases.
Until the news was written on Friday night, the arrested Nursana was in Lakhipur police station. It is still unknown regarding the source of the seized heroin and tablets as well as their intended use. The SDPO said Nursana was being interrogated to gather all the information. He said the international market value of the seized heroin and tablets would be around one crore.
