Barak Valley News | Rohingya in Assam: Rohingyas caught in Karimganj

Karimganj police have made an arrest of another suspected illegal Rohingya in Assam based on their interrogation of two suspects. The Karimganj police had in custody, two suspected Rohingya immigrants who were being interrogated. Based on the interrogation, fresh leads were developed. These led to the arrest of another suspected illegal migrant.

The two initial suspects were arrested from the Churaibari area in Tripura, according to sources. Their names have been disclosed as Farid Alam and Mohammad Furkan. Both are suspected to be from Myanmar.

Based on information gathered from the suspects, they were living in the Coxbazar area of Bangladesh for over two months. Following that, they breached the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura in an attempt to get to Hyderabad, the Eastern Chronicle reported. The case is being investigated by the deputy superintendent of Karimganj police James A Sangti.
