The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) files a charge sheet before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Guwahati, against 15 accused of the Assam insurance scam, These 15 persons include officials of National Insurance Company Ltd. (NICL), bank managers, and they are accused of causing fraud of approximately Rs 47.68 lakh.
The charge sheet includes seven officials of the insurance company and two officials from the banks along with an elementary schoolteacher from Dhubri Assam.
CBI in its statement said that “The accused allegedly made false, forged, and fabricated FIRs by using numbers of genuine cases from various police stations in Assam. They also forged complaints and other documents to avail benefits of false motor accident claims during 2015-2017, thereby causing loss of Rs 47.68 lakh to National Insurance Company Limited,”
The 15 officials include Dy. Manager, National Insurance Company Ltd. (NICL), Guwahati; then Senior Manager, NICL Mangaldai District, Darrang, (Assam); then Senior Manager, Punjab National Bank (Erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce), PNB Circle Office at Dharapur, Guwahati; then Assistant Manager, Punjab National Bank (Erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce); empanelled Private Investigators of NICL; a Teacher and a Private Persons.
