An unfortunate incident occurred at the KalainItbatta, where 5 people have lost their lives so far, and around 20 people were severely injured due to the chimney breaking. Among the 5 deaths, 2 died on the spot, and 3 were declared dead after reaching the hospital. Sadly, the death toll includes children 12 and 14 years old.
The incident occurred in S.A.B.I ItbattaKalain, on the evening of 2nd December. Reportedly, the workers were setting fire to season the bricks, and the chimney started to crumble. It is said that the chimney was very old, causing such a miss happening.
The injured were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where the injured who were rescued from the spot are battling for survival.
