On Wednesday, the Guwahati Police performed a sting operation and seized a massive amount of drugs from an ambulance near the Hengerabari area. The cumulative price of the drugs can be estimated at Rs 14.1 crore.
According to the sources, the police suspected a drug racket operation near the area. Based on the information collected from several events, the police initiated a process. First, they started to check the vehicles, and during that, they intercepted a Manipur-registered ambulance at the parking of an apartment in the Hengerabari area. After reviewing the ambulance, they found a large quantity of cache of Yaba tablets and suspected heroin weighing 200 grams. They seized around 50,000 Yaba tablets, and their combined valuation was Rs 14.1 crore in the international market.
While talking to the media, the police said this may have been the first time an ambulance was found smuggling or trafficking contraband. They also informed us that regarding the case, they have arrested a person from Meghalaya, who was found with the consignment. It is suspected by the police that the Drugs were planned to import to Bangladesh.
