Five youths from the southern part of Assam, Hailakandi, were detained for performing dangerous bike stunts on the national highway.
According to a senior police officer, the youths performed bike stunts on the national highway connecting Hailakandi with another nearby district, Karimganj. The incident grabbed the attention of the police after one of them uploaded a video of them performing a stunt on social media.
The five youths arrested are Amin Laskar, Abdur Rahman Laskar, Fakrul Islam Laskar, Abdul Aziz, and Iqbal Hussain Majumdar.
The special DGP of Assam, G.P. Singh, has warned the bikers who try to perform dangerous stunts on the highway on several occasions.
He took tweeter to warn the youth by saying, “People of Assam are requested to inform through Direct Message about any place or persons indulging in stunt biking on a regular basis. Such displays on social media platforms may also be brought to the notice of Assam Police.”
The incident came to light on Monday. After that, the honourable Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, instructed all DCs and SPs to take special safety measures to reduce the number of road accidents in Assam.
