Cirkus starting Ranveer Singh disappointed the fans who hoped the movie would rejuvenate the magic of Indian cinema. It earned Rs 6.25 crore and 6.40 crore on Friday and Saturday, respectively. On day 3 and an important holiday, the movie managed to earn only Rs 7.40 crore.
The film is directed by Rohit Shetty and stars Ranveer Singh, Varun Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde. According to the reports by Bollywood Hungama, the movie saw a marginal growth of only 15% on Sunday. Considering that it was Christmas and the movie featured two of the most energetic and talented individuals, Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh, the performance was pretty disappointing. Besides,
Cirkus didn’t just fail at the box office but couldn’t impress the critics. The movie received quite some backlash for its overdramatic execution and unnecessary projection of characters. The Indian Express reviewed this move and called it ‘blah’. Shubhra Gupta also mentioned in her reviews, “Revving up the livewire Ranveer up with ‘bijlikejhatke’ is so extra that it should have induced non-stop, over-the-top hilarity, Shetty ishtyle. But the gags don’t land; neither does, for the most part, the lead star.”
