On Monday, a leopard injured around 13 people in upper Assam’s Jorhat district. According to the official, a wild leopard attacked the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) residents at Chenijan in Jorhat. Among the 13 people harmed in the attack, 3 were forest personnel.
As per the sources, the vicious leopard sneaked into the residential area from the forest and started to attack people. 10 civilians received severe injuries in the attack. Jorhat SP Mohan LalMeena mentioned while speaking to the media that the leopard’s behaviour was suspicious, as normally, they don’t attack people if they don’t feel threatened for any reason.
All the injured people have been admitted to the hospital. Reportedly, their condition is not crucial, and the situation is now under control.
Videos that forest officials captured are making rounds on the Internet, where the leopard is seen moving around the residential area. In another video, the leopard is seen jumping over a fence and attacking cars and other vehicles.
