Police to investigate APSC’ cash-for-job’ scam in fast-track mode

According to the reports, former Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma has directed the Director General of Police to investigate the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam in fast-track mode.

The commission’s report highlighted abnormality in the appointment of 37 gazetted officers. Sources state that the police have already asked the year to start investigating the charges against those 37 officers. Besides that, the government asked police to reopen eight files connected to the scam. 

The ‘cash-for-job’ scam includes cases from Dibrugarh, CID, ACB, Dispur PS, and the Bhangagarh PS. Reportedly, the first case was registered in Dibrugarh in 2016.

The government of Assam has come up with a panel that includes five members to investigate and examine the inquiry commission’s report regarding malpractices in the conduct of CCE-2013 by APSC.

Recently, the government has commanded to make the process faster and askef the panel to suggest if the results of the CCE-2013 should be set aside and much more. Therefore, the committee is asked to submit the report within two months.
