Assam Rifles and Customs officials seized Foreign Cigarettes worth Rs 5 lakh near the India-Myanmar border

Assam Rifles Personnel and Custom officials seized foreign cigarettes worth Rs 5.2 lakh near the India-Myanmar border at Mizoram. 

The entire sting operation was conducted on Thursday at Zokhawthar village in Mizoram. The officials stated that they had received information secretly from their spy. Assam Rifles, in partnership with the Customs department in Mizoram, operated. 

The Assam Rifles and Customs department team in Mizoram managed to seize the consignment, which was dropped in the usual location of Zokhawthar in Mizoram. The consignment is worth around Rs. 5.2 lakh. The foreign cigarettes were further passed on to the customs department. From there, the legal procedures will carry forward to the next level.

The Indo-Myanmar border has seen several cases of smuggling lately. The customs department is investigating the matter to find out the core loop of the occurrence.
