Google’s G-Spot is all set to compete against Apple’s AirTag

The long awaited AirTag was finally unveiled by Apple in April 2021 after years of rumors and speculations. It allows accessories, like wallets and keys, to be tracked using the Find My app by using a small circular tag.

Similar to apple’s Air-tag, Google is reportedly developing a feature that detects AirTags on Android devices. It is believed that the giant firm will release a Bluetooth tracking feature for all Android phones in the near future. The Google named it “G-spot”. However there is no such confirmation from the company. Android users would receive notifications if their Tile or devices travelled without the user’s approval with this feature. Users will receive notifications automatically when they update their Android devices if Google ships this feature

Google recently uploaded this new app to the Play Store that contains the feature, as discovered by a few sources. But, it is never guaranteed that a feature will be released in the future just because it is within unreleased code.

Although Google has not yet said whether or when it will do so, it is unclear when it will do so. No comment was received from Google regarding Protocol’s request. In the meantime, we can expect to hear more about Android 5.0 at Google’s annual Developers Conference, where the company typically rolls out new software features.
