In September 2018, Microsoft and DSCI developed the Cyber Shikshaa Initiative to develop cybersecurity skills for women engineers. Providing women with effective and skilled professional training is a goal of the Cyber Shikshaa Initiative. Through this programme, qualified women throughout the country will have access to Cyber Security education and career prospects.
As part of the programme, qualified participants will be connected with hiring organisations in the cybersecurity industry. Inviting qualified women to participate in this Skills development Initiative would pave the way for positive change by opening doors to them.
Key features of the Cyber Shikshaa program
- A course curriculum has been developed under this initiative by the DSCI.
- There are four months of hands-on practical training, case studies, and theory in the Cyber Shikshaa program.
- From time to time, Microsoft employee volunteers will conduct soft skill and technical workshops, training sessions, and mentoring sessions with industry leaders.
- The training concludes with the award of a certificate and assistance in placement and employment.
Eligibility criteria of this programme
- Only women are eligible for this program.
- A graduate of an engineering program is required.
- Applicants must be between 19 and 24 years of age
- The candidate’s family income should not exceed Rs.7 lakh per year to qualify.
- Candidates must hail from tier-2 or tier-3 Indian cities.
Cybersecurity job vacancies in India are expected to reach 1.5 million by 2025. CyberShikshaa for Educators is an important step towards developing a skilled cybersecurity workforce in India, said Microsoft’s Vice President Kate Behnken.
