A unique Braille printer invented by IIT Guwahati students

Two students of IIT Guwahati invented a unique Braille portable printer. The Goa Startup Incubator also showed interest in the project.

The talented IIT students came up with a unique idea of a portable braille printer named ‘TactAll’. Atal Incubation Centre will further fund it at the Goa Institute of Management (AIC-GIM).

The Braille printer will be showcased at the startup hackathon at the Purple Fest in Goa. The event will be headed in partnership with the Goa State Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

The talented students who came up with this innovative idea are Kaviraj Prithvi and Lalika Laya. They will now receive support in the form of entrepreneur mentoring, access to the network, and financial support.

The device is compact and looks like a computer mouse that can input text, custom keyboard input, audio, and photos. All the features are integrated into the printed braille and tactile graphics.

Kaviraj Prithvi spoke to the media and stated that during their research for the hackathon, they had to communicate with many members of the visually impaired community in Bengaluru. It was important to understand the problems and find out the one thing they struggle with often. He also mentioned that they are extremely grateful for the opportunity given to them by AIC-GIM.
