The Manipur BJP leader was murdered on Tuesday at around 11 am by the two miscreants at his home that is located in Thoubal district of Manipur. The prime accused, Ayekpam Keshorjit, surrendered himself to Imphal police on Tuesday.
According to the police, the prime accused, Ayekpam Keshorjit, is of 46 years and lives in Haobam Marak Irom Leikai in the Imphal West district of Manipur. He, surprisingly, came to the police station all by himself at 6 pm and surrendered to the officer in charge. He also deposited a .32 licensed pistol, .32 caliber bullets, 2 magazines, and one cell phone.
While Ayekpam Keshorjit surrendered himself, the other accused, Ricky Ponting alias Amu, the driver of the vehicle used in the murder, was arrested on the same day by the Imphal police.
Reportedly, Ayekpam Keshorjit and Ricky Ponting alias Amushot Laishram Rameshwar Singh, the BJP leader of Manipur, on Tuesday. Laishram was the convenor of the veteran’s cell of the Manipur BJP.
The incident took place at around 11 am on Tuesday. According to the eyewitness, miscreants drove in a white XUV with no number plate, shot the leader, and escaped from the crime scene. Laishram was rushed to the Raj Medicity in Imphal, where he was declared dead.
