Guwahati Under Bomb Threat After Suspected Suitcase Recovered from Zoo Road

Guwahati has been under bomb threat as a suitcase suspected to contain a bomb was found on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Zoo Road, where an abandoned suitcase had been left on the footpath of Sundarpur for several days.

The city police increased security in the area starting from 11 pm and conducted a thorough search with the assistance of a bomb squad and sniffer dogs. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Surjeet Singh Panesar, was also on-site. At 3:30 pm, the suitcase was transported to the Home Guard Training Center in Panikhaiti with a recovery van. However, it remains unclear whether the suitcase contained a bomb or something else, as the police did not disclose any information about its contents or fate after being taken to the training centre. Besides, the authorities also restricted media access to the training centre.
