A large quantity of banned substances was recovered in a midnight operation conducted by the Cachar police. The police also arrested two individuals in connection with the case.
According to SP Nomal Mahato, the seized substances will worth around Rs 14 crore in the market. The police team, consisting of personnel from the Kachudaram outpost and Sonai Police Station, raided the residence of a drug trafficker in Kachudaram on Tuesday night and seized 152 soap cases and several plastic packets containing brown sugar. Additionally, assets worth Rs 2 crore were also recovered.
The police had also arrested two drug traffickers, Eklas Uddin, and Nazrul Haque Laskar, and seized 5000 Yaba tablets. The police subsequently conducted raids at their residences based on their confession. At a press conference on Wednesday, Mahato stated that the operation was still ongoing. Reportedly, the police also raided the residence of Abdul Kalam Laskar, who was allegedly a kingpin in the syndicate and seized two vehicles from his property.
