Eden Silva, an Avid Fan of Serena Williams, Aims to Compete in Grand Slam Qualifiers While Focusing on One Match at a Time
Eden Silva is known for her mental fortitude, which has helped her remain positive even in difficult times and prioritize what makes her unique. At 26, Silva’s career took an early hit in 2015 when she suffered a full cruciate ligament tear during a tournament in Italy. This forced her to reconsider her singles career. Still, instead of giving up, she shifted her focus to doubles, where she won eight ITF titles, including a “memorable” Wimbledon experience in 2019.
Silva reflected on this experience in an article for ‘Behind the Racket,’ where she talked about the importance of recognizing herself as a tennis player and person. She also found joy in fashion and completed a course during the lockdown, which she considers a potential career option.
Silva, a big Serena Williams fan, recently returned to India after 10 years to participate in the KPB Trust ITF Women’s Open at the KSLTA Stadium in Bengaluru. She beat India’s Sharmada Balu, the player she faced in her debut year in India. She has now advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating qualifier Mei Yamaguchi in her second match.
