The Assam Budget Session Commences on March 10

The Assam Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session has begun today, i.e. March 10, at Dispur in Guwahati, and will run until April 5, featuring 14 sittings. 

The session will open with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria’s first address to the Assembly since taking office. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is scheduled to present the state budget for 2023-24 on March 16, and the session will continue for the next 14 business days. 

In preparation for the Budget session, security measures have been increased in and around Dispur. Following the Governor’s address, several new bills will be presented, which will include the Assam Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Bill, 2023, and the Assam Science and Technology University (Amendment) Bill, 2023. 

Besides, the Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary has also arranged a meeting of MLAs from all parties and asked for their cooperation during the session.
