A Golaghat Superintendent of Police Personal Security Officer (PSO) was discovered hanging within his quarter in Golaghat on Wednesday.
The constable who lost his life was identified as Rakesh Rai, and the cause of the incident remains unclear, though suicide is suspected.
Following the discovery, the body was taken to Shaheed Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat, where the post-mortem will be performed. This incident occurred only three days after the incident came to light, where a senior police constable, Biplab Chakraborty, was found dead in a room at the 6th Assam Police Battalion camp in Cachar’s Kathal area.
In that case, the constable’s body was transferred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), where the post-mortem examination was conducted. The police are actively investigating the incidents, and the cause of the constables’ deaths has yet to be determined. However, according to the department, they will soon find leads to both cases.
