Hima Das Wins Gold in Women’s 200m Event at Indian Grand Prix I 2023

Hima Das, the top sprinter from India, won the women’s 200m race at the Indian Grand Prix I 2023 held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on Sunday. At the Laxmibai National College of Physical Education, Hima Das beat Aishwarya Kailash Mishra of Maharashtra and VK Vismaya of Kerala to earn first place.

Although Hima Das won the gold medal, she fell 0.36 seconds short of meeting the Asian Games 2023 qualification requirements. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) established the criteria for the 200-meter sprint for women. The first Grand Prix featured a total of 18 events, with 10 for men and 8 for women.

The second leg of the Indian Grand Prix 2 will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on March 27, while the third and fourth legs will be hosted in Bengaluru, Karnataka on April 2 and April 10, respectively. The Indian Grand Prix provides a chance for athletes to demonstrate their abilities and qualify for international competitions such as the Asian Games.
