Badarpur Police Station Reserve Shut Down After Shooting Incident, Officer in Charge Suspended

On March 30, following a firing incident that occurred during a police operation to apprehend a criminal under the jurisdiction of the Badarpur Police Station in Assam, the Officer in Charge (OC) Chandan Goswami has been reserve closed with immediate effect. According to preliminary reports, the police fired blank shots at Ruhul Amin, who had allegedly attacked the police during the operation. The incident led to angry locals storming the police station, and tensions escalated as they attempted to block the national highway linking Assam and Tripura. To control the situation, police had to resort to firing a round. In response to demands from the enraged locals, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Partha Pratim Das arrived at the scene, and subsequently, the Karimganj District Superintendent of Police (SP) ordered the reserve closing of Badarpur Police Station’s OC.
