One such clip released on Friday featured the Englishman bowling to none other than team captain Rohit Sharma in a warm-up match. With Jasprit Bumrah sidelined due to injury, Archer is expected to step up and fill the void left by the Indian speedster. Speaking about Bumrah’s absence, coach Mark Boucher expressed his disappointment but also highlighted the opportunity for younger players to showcase their talents in the absence of seasoned players. Mumbai Indians have a reputation for selecting a playing eleven and a backup eleven and investing in young talent for the future. Now it is time for those youngsters to step up and deliver. In the past, Archer has played for MI Cape Town in the SA20 league, where he picked up 10 wickets in six matches.
