FIR Filed Against Katlicherra MLA Sujam Uddin Laskar for Defamation and Unconstitutional Language
In a recent development, an FIR has been lodged against Sujam Uddin Laskar, the MLA of Katlicherra constituency in Hailakandi, for allegedly insulting and defaming the deceased father of Johir Uddin Laskar, the district president of Raijor Dol. The FIR was filed at Lala Police Station based on an audio recording of a phone call in which the MLA was heard using abusive words directed towards the Raijor Dol leader, which he claims are unconstitutional to be used by an elected representative of the people.
Johir Uddin Laskar has been protesting against the scams and corruption of the Katlicherra MLA and against the conspiracy to shift the Model Degree College located in South Hailakandi, where classes have been going on for the last four years. The district president has alleged that the MLA leads the Burmese Betel Nuts syndicate in Hailakandi.
The SP and OC have assured Johir Uddin Laskar that an investigation will be conducted into the matter, and appropriate action will be taken against the MLA if found guilty.
