BapiHansda, a rising star athlete from Odisha, India, has won a silver medal in the 400m hurdles at the 5th Youth Asian Athletics Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The young athlete clocked his personal best time of 51.38 seconds, finishing ahead of Sri Lanka’s Kuda Liyanage Ayomal, who won the bronze medal.
He is a part of the Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics High-Performance Center and had recently won a gold medal at the 18th National Youth Championship with a timing of 51.90 seconds.
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, congratulated Bapi on his achievement and praised his inspiring journey.
Bapi’s coach expressed optimism about his prospects in upcoming events such as the Commonwealth Championships in August and the Junior World Championships next year. He stated that Bapi has the potential to become one of the best hurdlers in the world and that his hard work and dedication will help him achieve his dreams.
The state government has also taken note of Bapi’s achievement and has promised to support and nurture more young athletes like him in the future.
