In a disturbing incident, a school teacher in Rongpur area of Silchar was arrested for allegedly assaulting a second-grade student. The incident came to light after the victim’s mother filed a First Information Report (FIR) stating that her child had been caned by the teacher. The accused, who worked as a faculty member at Rashbehari LP School, was apprehended by the police.
Cachar Superintendent of Police (SP), Numal Mahatta, addressed the media and confirmed the arrest on Tuesday. He mentioned that the injured student was immediately taken to a hospital for a medical check-up and necessary treatment. After receiving the required medical attention, the student was sent home.
