Powerlifters from Arunachal Pradesh displayed extraordinary skill at the just-concluded National Raw Powerlifting (WPC India) Championship, held in Gujarat from May 25 to May 28. The state’s team returned with an excellent collection of nine gold and two bronze medals, signifying a significant accomplishment for the region.
RibaSinghi, representing the 4th IRBn, was one of the most impressive performers, delivering an awe-inspiring performance. Singhi won gold medals in the complete powerlifting and deadlift categories and a bronze medal in the bench press category. Her most memorable performances were 195 kgs in the squat, 117.5 kgs in the bench press, and a startling 222 kgs in the deadlift, for a total of 534.5 kgs.
Meli Singhi Kino displayed outstanding strength, topping her division in the women’s 75 kg bodyweight category. Kino won gold medals in the total powerlifting, deadlifting, and bench press competitions. Her best lifts included a 120 kgs deadlift, 57.5 kgs bench press, and 107.5 kgs squat.
In addition, LapungNeri, who competed in the sub-junior category for boys weighing 52 kg, exhibited outstanding potential by winning gold medals in complete powerlifting, deadlifting, and bench press. Neri also secured top positions by deadlifting 120 kgs, bench pressing 60 kgs, and squatting 85 kgs.
